Update: As of December 2008, Grammy's Cookie Convoy, Inc. has shipped over 84,000 cookies to our troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan!!!!!!
This project began in 2005 when Marlene Summers spoke to a young man just before he was about to be deployed to Iraq. She thought about what she could do to support the troops while they were so far away from home. Realizing she owned a chocolate chip cookie company - why not send chocolate chip cookies/"HUGS" to the troops. The project is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit project, and has shipped over 80,000 "hugs" to the troops.
